Role of the P & C Association
The P & C Association meets at 7:00pm in D Block on the fourth Monday of each month. All members of the School community are welcome to attend. The P & C Association oversees a budget of up to $1,000,000 annually and large sums must be sought each year through fund-raising events to cover expenditure.
Major sources of income are the canteen, text book and stationery sales commission, and the P & C Association's direct appeal to parents for funds. Parents are asked to contribute directly to the P & C Association to help cover the costs of providing equipment and materials for their children. The standard of education provided by the School depends very heavily on the support of parents for this direct appeal for funds.
Members of the P & C Association fill specific positions on the School Advisory Committee. The annual general meeting is held in November. The P & C Association can be contacted through the President.
The P & C Association operates through a number of sub-committees which are associated with sporting and cultural co-curricular activities. They report to the P & C Association and consist of parents and teachers who are involved in organisation and fund-raising for those activities addressed by the sub-committee.
Some sub-committees produce their own newsletters and most also report in the School Newsletter. All parents are encouraged to attend Sub-Committee meetings relevant to activities in which their children participate. Not only do parents get to meet the teachers involved but they also find out what is happening without relying on their child to tell them!
