Year 5 Selective Entry to BSHS

As Queensland’s only selective entry public school and a member of the GPS and QGSSSA cocurricular organisations, Brisbane State High School has a proud history of academic, sporting and cultural excellence.

Traditional admission to the school is via one of four methods:

  • Selective Entry Academic Merit
  • Selective Entry Sporting Merit
  • Selective Entry Cultural (Music and Art) Merit
  • Those residing within the catchment area, in line with the Education Queensland endorsed Enrolment Management Plan

Applications for all Selective Entry categories are traditionally made during Year 7, for those beginning Year 8 the following year.

From 2009, for the first time, students will be able to apply during Year 5 for a Selective Entry place (Academic Merit) into Year 8 at State High. The first group of students eligible to apply are Year 5 students in 2009, who will become Year 8s in 2012.

As we are expecting overwhelming interest in this initiative. Expression of Interest (EOI) form should be completed and returned to the school by Friday 26 June, 2009 for year 8 entry in 2012.

Please note: Original documents may be collected from the school by a parent (identification required) or they can be returned by post (Brisbane State High School cannot accept any responsibility for documents sent in the post).
