Welcome back to our students and staff.
I hope you all had a good break and students are refreshed and ready for an exciting new year of learning at Brisbane State High School.
Please note the following forthcoming events:
Year 8 Welcome BBQ
Wednesday 8 February
On the afternoon of Wednesday 8 February, parents/guardians of our new Year 8 students are invited to attend a Year 8 Welcome BBQ with their Year 8 student. I look forward to meeting these parents/guardians and they will also have the opportunity to meet with our Deputy Principal for Year 8, Ms Janice Head, and our Year Level Coordinator for Year 8, Ms Lauren Tull, as well as their student’s teachers and some members of our Parents and Citizens Association.
For further details, please refer to the invitation which has been sent out to all Year 8 parents/guardians.
School Leader Induction Ceremony
11:00 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday 9 February
This important formal School Assembly is held at the Suncorp Piazza, South Bank, where we congratulate and introduce our Student Leaders for 2012. All students are to wear their formal school uniform (refer to the Uniform Policy on page 10 of the School Diary).
All members of our school community are welcome to attend the ceremony.
Interhouse Swimming Carnival
Tuesday 14 February
As this is a normal school day, all students are expected to attend the Interschool Swimming Carnival at The Valley Pool. Students are to arrive and depart in their school uniform but may change into House colours at the pool. Under rules of The Valley Pool, no face paint or streamers are permitted.
Nominations are being held on Tuesday 31 January in allocated rooms throughout the school from 1:00 pm. Information will be sent to Form Teachers and be available through the Student Notices and noticeboards.
Buses will be available for students unable to make their own way to the pool and will depart from Edmondstone Street from 8:30 am and return to school by 3:20 pm. Tickets are $6.00 and will be available for purchase during Form Class from Wednesday 8 February.
